Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day)

VJ Day 75th Anniversary

Saturday 15 August 2020 is the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, marking both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War.

Whilst VE Day (Victory in Europe) marked the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, thousands of those in the Armed Forces were still engaged in terrible fighting in the Far East. On this day we remember and recognise all those who served and sacrificed in the Far East and ultimately brought an end to WWII. This day will be marked in Louth at the Cornmarket where at 11am the Last Post will be played, followed by a two-minutes silence and then the Bugler will play the Reveille.

Please keep safe and remember that social distancing should be maintained.
