LOUTH'S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON AND CHRISTMAS CRIB SERVICE
Thursday 27th November 2008 saw the Mayor of Louth,
Councillor Francis W.P. Treanor Switch On Louth's Christmas Lights and
the Town Council's Christmas Crib Service also took place. The evening was
a roaring success with children from St. Michael's CE Primary School, Kidgate
Primary School and Lacey Gardens Junior School kicking proceedings off by
singing Christmas songs around the tree (kindly donated by Kenwick Park Golf
Club). The Mayor, assisted by a young lady by the name of Jade switched on
the lights at 6pm and following this the Riverhead Silver Band played while
Santa, having this year made a special journey to be with us, received letters
from children. At 6.25pm the Mayor, the Reverend Canon Stephen Holdaway
and the St. James' Church Choir led all those assembled in the Market Place in
procession to the Fish Shambles where the Reverend Canon Stephen Holdaway
conducted the Christmas Crib Service assisted by the Mayor's Chaplain, Father
Paul Lloyd and accompanied by the St. James' Church Choir. Louth Town
Council would like to thank all those who assisted with the evening and
especially all those who turned out, despite the inclement weather, to view or
take part in the proceedings.
