Thursday 26th November 2009 saw the Mayor of Louth, Councillor Kaith A. Sharp Switch On Louth's Christmas Lights and the Town Council's Christmas Crib Service also took place.  The evening was a roaring success with the Riverhead Silver Band and children from St. Michael's CE Primary School, Kidgate Primary School, Lacey Gardens Junior School and Eastfield Infants' and Nursery School kicking proceedings off by performing around the tree (kindly paid for by the Louth and Area Ladies Luncheon club).  The Mayor, assisted by his grandson Tom switched on the lights at 6pm and following this Christmas Songs were played over the PA system to the crowd while Santa, having this year made a special journey to be with us, received letters from children.  At 6.15pm the Mayor, the Reverend Canon Stephen Holdaway and the St. James' Church Choir led all those assembled in the Market Place in glow stick led procession to the  Fish Shambles where the Reverend Canon Stephen Holdaway conducted the Christmas Crib Service with Carols sung by the St. James' Church Choir accompanied by the Riverhead Silver Head.  Louth Town Council would like to thank all those who assisted with the evening especially Mr. David Fairburn and all those who turned out to view or take part in the proceedings.
