PUBLIC FLOOD ALLEVIATION MEETING

On Thursday 9th October 2008 Louth Town Council hosted the above follow up meeting to the floods of 25th June 2007 and 20th July 2008 and a public flood meeting held at the time on 3rd October 2007.  This follow up meeting was organised by Louth Town Council in order that the agencies and authorities could return to demonstrate not only remedial works that have been completed since the flooding but also larger scale preventative schemes which have now been identified and have had funding bids placed.  The meeting was very positive.  All agencies/authorities were commended for their work since the flooding, especially the Environment Agency who were highly praised for their work in the aftermath of the floods and since, regarding prevention of future river flooding.  It should be noted, however, that there appear to remain a small number of local residents who have not yet received a satisfactory response to their individual concerns.  These residents were encouraged to communicate directly with the Inter-agency Group led by ELDC who through joint working are attempting to resolve all non river issues.  The Town Council are particularly pleased that some attendees showed an interest in becoming volunteer flood wardens.  Any other interested parties should contact the Town Clerk on 01507 617305 for further information.
