FOND FAREWELL TO LONGSTANDING
MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL

The Annual Meeting of the Council / Election of Mayor meeting held on Friday 15th May 2009 saw two long standing members of the Council retire. 

Mr. Jim Dixon, Mayor's Serjeant since 2000 (pictured right) stepped down and handed over his position to Mrs. Sandra Dykes.  The Council presented Mr. Dixon with several keepsakes including a plaque commemorating his time in office and a framed photograph of himself with 2008/09 Mayor, Councillor F.W.P. Treanor.  Councillor T.F. Marris also presented Mr. Dixon with a gift from the Mayors that had served during his time in office.

 

The retiring Mayor, Councillor F.W.P. Treanor announced that Councillor Mrs. Margaret Ottaway MBE would officially resign from the Council after 21 years of service following the closure of the Annual Meeting of the Council.  Councillor Treanor presented Councillor Mrs. Ottaway MBE with a bouquet of flowers and thanked her profusely for her contribution to the Town Council.  Councillor Mrs. Ottaway MBE said she had thoroughly enjoyed her time in office and was pleased to have been involved in so many special projects during this time.  She said she was sorry to leave but felt it was the only way she could ensure that she would have more time to devote to putting her own house in order.
