FAIRTRADE TOWN
At a meeting of Louth Town Council on 19th October 2006 Canon Holdaway gave
Councillors a brief explanation of the Fairtrade system. He then explained that
if Louth moves quickly it can become the first Fairtrade Town in Lincolnshire.
However, without the support of Louth Town Council this cannot go ahead. Louth
Town Council only had to pledge to use Fairtrade products when it meets as a
whole Council. It was
RESOLVED that: 1. Louth Town Council support the principle that goods and products should be fairly traded. 2. Louth Town Council actively supports, encourages and promotes the use of Fairtrade goods and products produced locally. 3. Louth Town Council will ensure that tea and coffee served at meetings will be products certified with the Fairtrade Mark. 4. Louth Town Council nominated Councillor T.F. Marris to liaise with the Louth Fairtrade Town Committee to progress the Fairtrade Town Campaign.
